Darren Kane may still be reeling after losing his A1 last weekend, but he bounced back in the best possible way last night with victory in the Cowland 42.

A strong field of cars would rock up for the first of two nights of action at Murray Bridge Speedway and the drama would continue right where it left off last weekend, Callum Harper unable to make the start of the main event despite qualifying much better than last weekend.

The 42 lap feature race went green and Queenslander Michael Hally got the early lead from pole sitter Todd Atkins while Darren Kane was quickly to third.

Hally built up a lead quickly but about five laps in Atkins moved high and began to close the gap with Kane following right behind, the top three clear of the rest of the field.

After a stoppage, the top three continued the battle, going three wide through turn four and making contact, Hally coming off worse for wear and spearing into the wall.

Atkins lead away Kane and Nicola Jnr on the restart with David Musch in fourth holding off Matty Pascoe and Joel Berkley.

Lap twelve saw plenty of drama: Pascoe able to get past Nicola Jnr for third, then Atkins all of a sudden slowing and heading infield, Darren Kane now with a big lead over Matty Pascoe with Nicola Jnr, Berkley and Musch rounding out the top five.

Lapped traffic would allow Pascoe to close the gap, while around the halfway point Berkley would get by Nicola Jnr for third.

With seventeen to go the yellows were out again, with Nicola Jnr spinning after contact with lapped traffic having a moment in front of him, reinstated into his position for the restart.

Kane led away on the restart and would pull away from Pascoe and Berkley, while Brad Pascoe got past Nicola Jnr for fourth.

Just as Kane collected the white flag the yellows were out again as Lionel West found himself stranded at the top of turn one, setting up a green, white, chequer restart.

Kane would hold strong and despite a bold attempt by Pascoe the order would remain unchanged, Darren Kane defeating Matty Pascoe and Joel Berkley.

The SSA Super Sedans will return tonight for the SA Title (Saturday, March 22nd).
