Saturday night saw two series events take place at Murray Machining & Sheds, Murray Bridge Speedway.

The Modified Sedans got their SA Eastside Bearings Series underway with ten competitors entered for Round 1. Martin Hawson would take out both heat events, making him the top point scorer heading into the Preliminary Feature. The reverse grid format would see Hawson have to work hard to chase down both Heath Thorne and Wayne Williams. And it would come down to the final lap, with Hawson passing Williams to take out the 15 lap preliminary event ahead of Williams and Thorne. This would set-up Hawson for front row start for the Feature event in a somewhat reduced field with several competitors unfortunately experiencing mechanical problems. Thorne would challenge Hawson though on the opening lap, before Hawson would open up a commanding lead, driving smoothly from the front. Thorne and Williams would have a great battle for the minor placings, with the pair encountering lapped traffic, allowing Williams to sneak up on the inside to secure second place. But ultimately it would be Hawson making it a clean sweep for the night, ahead of Williams, and Thorne finishing in third.

The MJS Street Stock Series contested the second round of the 2024-2025 series after their first round was unfortunately not able to be held due to wet weather. With a good field entered, the drivers were split over 3 heat rounds, which went the way of Darren Flatman (Heat 1) and Heath Thorne (Heat 2 and Heat 3). In the 30 lap feature event, it was Sam Brumfield challenging Heath Thorne from the get go, with Nigel Reichstein also on their tail. Thorne and Brumfield would trade places several times for the lead, before the field stopped at the mid-way point to change direction. Thorne would lead the field for the restart, with Brumfield and Reichstein remaining in the same order. Thorne managed to skip away early on, with the challenges coming further back for the minor placings between Reichstein, Flatman, Watson and Buchanan. The cautions would come on with 6 laps remaining, seeing Flatman pushed to the infield. Thorne would lead home the field in the dash to the finish, with Brumfield maintaining second, and Watson finishing fast to secure third, ahead of Buchanan and Reichstein.

Tyson Martin (Wingless Sprints), Lachlan Brown (Junior Sedans) and Nick Hall (V6 Sprints) were the other feature event winners on the night.

The venue now looks forward to their next race night on Saturday, November 9th, where series action continues in both the Modified Sedans and Street Stocks, with Wingless Sprints and V6 Sprints also back on the program. Modlites will have their first run of the season, with Classic Hot Rods also on track for demonstration runs. Tickets for the event are on sale now via www.speedwaytickets.com.au
