Release by DTN Media

With the end of 2023 nearing, this means just one thing… Energy Hire WA Pro Speedcar Week is about to kick off!
The opening event of the series will take place at Murray Bridge Speedway on Wednesday the 3rd of January and with twenty-eight nominations received, this will be a cracking way to start off!
Plenty of drivers come in with a claim to fame, but the most recent feature race winner is Kaidon Brown, racing his way to victory at Borderline just a few days ago.
With a second and a third in the heat races, Brown would lead every lap to claim victory, with fellow contracted drivers in Kaleb Currie and Robert Heard rounding out the top three, providing the perfect lead into the PSW.
Caleb Mills, Brendan Zadow, Zoe Pearce and Matthew Radisich competed at the same show, finishing in positions four to seven respectively, Zadow even grabbing the opening heat race win while Luke Storer was a DNF in the final, all five drivers looking to get laps under their belt as they too prepared for the PSW.
Cars are coming from all over the country for the PSW, with the lone West Aussie team heading across the Nullarbor today, Cody Nash aboard the Redmond racing #52 and fresh off a sixth-place finish on Boxing Day at the Perth Motorplex.
On the other side of the coin, rain has played havoc with racing in the Eastern States over the last month, the opening round of the Baretta Southern Speedcar Tour cancelled before beginning, Toowoomba rained out on Boxing Day and then a few days ago the George Tatnell Challenge at Nowra being cancelled.
With a number of contracted drivers nominated for each of those shows but missing out, including Cal Whatmore and Kacy-Lee Black for up North and then others for Nowra in particular including Matt Jackson, Jordan Mackay, Jay Waugh, DJ Raw, Mitch Saunderson, Dave Lambert, Rhys Birkett, Kacey-Lee Black and Daniel Paterson, they are all now chomping at the bit to get back behind the wheel!
Non contracted drivers who have thrown their hats in the ring for the Murray Bridge round include Dillon Ghent, Norm Moore and Ryan Jones, Ghent in particular looking to make an impact after a heat win at Borderline and running second for the first ten laps before ultimately recording a DNF.
It is sure to be a huge show this Wednesday night, so we encourage all the fans to celebrate the New Year safely and then join us at Murray Bridge Speedway to take in what will be the first of four epic nights of racing!
