Release by Phil Michell Motorsport Media

This Saturday night (October 17) the Murray Machining and Sheds Murray Bridge Speedway roars back into life with the opening Sprintcar show of the season with Round 1 of the 360/LS Sprintcars Track Championship, presented by Lewiston Haulage and Smedley Tyre Service. The series has attracted a total of 11 championship eligible drivers who will chase the $10,000 first placed cheque, with a total point fund of $40,500 for the five round Track Championship.

Leading the “Registered” list of drivers are several drivers with considerable open Sprintcar experience including Keke Falland, who recorded a 360/LS feature win last season at Tolmer, Ricky Maiolo and Corey Sandow, but it also includes several of the next generation stars therefore the established drivers won’t have it all their own way.

Last season Jack McCarthy proved to be a regular front runner in his return to Sprintcar racing while Luke Squiers captured his first A-main victory at Murray Bridge along with the Sprintcars SA State Points Championship. After driving for Michael and Geoff Brown last season Squiers has built up his own team over the Winter months and he will campaign the #17, the number is Father Brett used over 20 years ago.

Hayden Vickers, Bronson Mauro, Tate Cowie, and local Murray Bridge teenager Brodie Somerfield will all continue to build on their impressive rookie season’s last summer, while Tailem Bend’s Sam Martin and Williamstown resident Zack Sloan will embark on their first full season of Sprintcar racing.

For Martin, he took in a two events last season driving for Simon Richards including a start at Murray Bridge, while Zack, son of former 410 Sprintcar driver Justin, will make his Sprintcar debut after a lengthy Dirt Kart career. Sloan will carry the familiar Sloan Racing Team number #25.

The additional two drivers in the field include Whyalla youngster Jordan Grillet, who has made limited starts in his 360ci powered Triple X since graduating from the V6 Sprint division. In his only start last season Grillett recorded a top five result at his home track in the opening round of the Sprintcars SA 2025/26 Points Championship.

Victorian Chad Bell makes up the final entry, with the Formula 500 racer set to make the trek to Murray Bridge.
