Brock Hallett was victorious in the final Sprintcar event of the Murray Machining and Sheds Murray Bridge Speedway on Saturday night as he totally dominated the 30-lap finale defeating Luke Dillon and Matt Egel in what ended up being a two-lap dash to flag. In what was a devastating display, Hallett was set to smash the existing track record but as he made his way through turn four for the final time the yellow lights came on for Ryan Jones, after his left rear tyre exploded in turn one.

“Overall, it was a pretty good night for us. It was a great way to bounce back after a tough Australian Title. To finish the season with three wins at Murray Bridge is a great result for our team, it was just a pity we didn’t get the 30-lap track record. I would like to thank everyone involved with our team, the management at Murray Bridge for putting on the race and Sprintcars SA for everything they have done, not only tonight but for the entire season” added Brock following the main event.

In what was a stunning 410ci Sprintcar debut fourth place went the way of Portland’s Luke Storer, who got the better of Bordertown’s Dylan Jenkin late in the race. The top five were the only drivers to finish on the lead lap.

Glen Sutherland, Parker Scott were next across the line ahead of Steven Caruso and Alice Springs racers Mark Phillips and Lachlan Cole. Ryan Jones and Joel Heinrich failed to finish while rookie Simon Richards in his LS powered machine and Ben Morris were non-starters.

Earlier four heat races were conducted with the heat draws determined by a marble draw. Matt Egel was victorious in heat 1 ahead of Dillon and Jones, while Dylan Jenkin was the second preliminary ahead of Hallett and Storer.

The third heat saw the only red light of the evening as Ben Morris rolled hard in turn two while leading handing the win to Parker Scott. Dillon and Egel followed the teenager across the line. The final heat saw Glen Sutherland defeat Hallett and Jones, therefore at the competition of the heat races Matt Egel topped the score chart ahead of Hallett, Dillon, Sutherland, Jenkin, Jones, Scott and Storer.
